About our Private Event Venue
Western Luxury without the Altitude
History of River Fort Ranch
River Fort Ranch is rooted in family legacy and shaped by Colorado heritage. Long before it became a leading destination for upscale weddings and events, this land was home to a 100-acre working farm that has remained in the same family for four generations.
The ranch officially opened as a private event venue by popular demand in 2015. From there, the property continued to grow in both vision and acreage, evolving into a luxury barn wedding venue with lodging, flexible gathering spaces, and immersive add-on experiences—all while maintaining its authentic Western roots.
River Fort Ranch Today
River Fort Ranch continues to honor its past while welcoming guests into a setting where heritage, hospitality and refined western comfort unite seamlessly. The working ranch features an upscale 11-bedroom lodge complemented by historic buildings, a farmhouse retreat, and glamping accommodations set along the South Platte River. Our low-altitude location and ADA accessible event facilities with ample parking make it an ideal private event venue for guests of all ages.
From the moment you step foot on your property, you’ll feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You’ll find deer and wild turkeys darting through the trees, bald eagles soaring overhead, and Longhorn cattle grazing in the pasture. It’s a true nature lover’s paradise, where you can breathe deeply and soak in the surroundings.

Meet the River Fort Ranch Family
Dori DeJong grew up just south of River Fort Ranch on her family’s dairy farm, riding horses along the river and soaking in the same mountain sunsets her guests enjoy today. After years of building a life and successful career in the city, she returned to her roots in 2013 when her family purchased the adjacent 135-acre fort property from the Ream family.
By 2023, additional land purchases brought the total ranch property to 245 acres. Portions of River Fort Ranch have been in Dori’s family for three generations, with her son now preparing to become the fourth-generation steward.
Today, Dori and her son Caden feel honored to share this land, its legacy and their passion for serving others with every couple and guest who comes through the gates.
